Between Then and Yesterday

Step out with me into that empty space

Between utopia and heartbreak

A sickle moon lighting the silence

Shadows writing new alphabets

As I tie up your letters

In a ribbon of lavender

For I am a hoarder

With an attic full of laughter

And sundrenched picnics on the river

And smudged lipstick at the movies

Strains of our song tumbling in the breeze

But between then and yesterday

There is an empty space

Where I can kiss you my darling

One last time

And just play pretend
